Shaun Knights Joins PolarSeal’s Quality Division

As a leading medical device manufacturer, it is important for us to put our people first at PolarSeal. We provide the training and support to all employees, encouraging team cohesion to create an enjoyable environment. We asked  Shaun Knights about his thoughts on what it is like working for PolarSeal:

What is your role at PolarSeal?

My role is Quality & Continuous Improvement Director.

How long have you been in the medical industry?

I have worked in the Medical Device industry for 14 years now, and Automotive for 8 years prior to that. While the regulations clearly differ between these industries, many of the aspects around Quality Assurance are similar.

What is your take on the medical device market and where do you see it in the next 5 years?

I find the Medical Device market an inspiring and humbling place to work. As an industry, our reason for being is to help others. Possibly even our family or friends. In terms of the next 5 years, I see more AI and digitisation being the key areas of growth. Technologies like the diabetes Freestyle Libre, where the user monitors their blood glucose levels via an app on their phone are great example of this. We will see more self-testing also, especially off the back of the Lateral Flow test success seen through COVID. This is currently an area of rapid growth within the industry .

Which aspect of your new role are you excited about?

I’m excited to get into the detail of the PolarSeal organisation. It’s clear to see the company has aspirational growth targets for the coming few years and by understanding more about the company, I hope to identify how my background in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement can bring new insights to the team at PolarSeal.

What are your first impressions of PolarSeal?

My first impressions of Polarseal are that they are a caring and successful organisation. The plants have a professional feel to them, both from a people and an aesthetic perspective.

What made you want to join the PolarSeal team?

There are two key reasons why I wanted to join Polarseal. Firstly, the people. I feel very aligned and comfortable with the staff I’ve met and believe we have the same values, which is very important to me. Secondly, the company looks to have a prosperous future and is growing well. I believe my background can help with this and am excited to be able to work with the team on realising their (our) future goals.
