PolarSeal – Then and Now

Reflection is a key aspect of any business’s success.

While the past may be something that some don’t care to dwell on, for us, the past is a very important touchstone to inform our decisions moving forward. Of course, without knowing where you have come from, how will you know where you are going?

PolarSeal was founded in 1981 and we used our time in the eighties to establish ourselves as influential flexible material converter. In the 1990s, we made the shift from basic medical manufacturing to focus on products and devices that required special care in researching, developing, and manufacturing. We made our original registration to BSEN/ISO 9001 standard in 1994, and just shy of the millennium, in 1999 we cut the ribbon on our first top-class cleanroom.

Working in tandem with scientists and engineers, we knew from early on that it was integral for us to set a positive example as a contract medical device manufacturer, so we chose to prioritise sustainable energy. Similarly, we recognised our ability to scale up production, and committed to onboard more employees to expand our reach.

Our history, from 1981, has always been premised on looking forward – seeing the potential in the future and understanding where both our company and our industry are headed. Without this forward-thinking mentality, we would have been left behind by a rapidly changing and expanding industry decades ago.

While we cannot say that we saw the writing on the wall in 2018, we knew that it was the right time to expand and built our fourth cleanroom, allowing us to increase our manufacturing capabilities. This proved to be prescient, as the addition of this cleanroom allowed us to create a production line to manufacture a high volume of PPE needed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, our commitment to championing sustainable energy in our early days has since allowed us to ensure we are now 100% renewable as of 2021.

Our history pushes us to our present, and without recognising and implementing strategies like these, we would never be the successful officially trademarked medical device manufacturing company that we are today. Today, our service offerings are multitudinous, ranging from new wound care manufacturing to biomedical production to surgical films… the list goes on.

However, if there is anything else that PolarSeal’s history shows us, it is that we are never satisfied in simply resting on our laurels. While we are proud of our renewable energy use, we want to expand our sustainability efforts by planting trees and improving the land around our manufacturing sites. While we are confident in our applications and capabilities, we are continuing to expand into the realm of manufacturing diagnostic test strips with our unique, state-of-the-art machinery.

PolarSeal is committed to looking to the future and recognising our past as a source of pride. While there has been a lot that has changed between then and now, we are always ready to push our limits and believe in the unconventional.

Get in touch with us today, and we can use our past to make your future look bright.
